WELFARE ECONOMICS
The economy consists of means, resources and rules of operation to operate our societies. Our past is a long history of slavery and governments deciding our destiny. We must take the reins of our lives in our own hands.
Welfare economics must focus on the capabilities and goals of the whole. The Mayan and modern worlds need to reconcile, as do many divided peoples. In the background of our common history lies injustices and cruelties committed against the inhabitants and lands that nourish us. By suppressing, denying and falsifying the stories of the past we have denied human dignity.
Negative feelings and grudges will not heal until they are looked at in the face and acknowledged. We must create means and rules to work and win together, with love for the other, for ourselves and for our land, and in full transparency.

LIVE DEMOCRACY
Being represented by others is not democratic. Choosing between preferred options is not democratic. Democracy is participation in relevant decisions. In order to decide we need to know.

It is urgent to create open and transparent spaces for public debate. The present culture of political correctness is oppressive. We cannot change it if we do not live it differently.

The Mayans selected their leaders from among those who had proven to know how to live in autarky, and who had managed to earn the respect and trust of a small town. These leaders were given Tatich , a title that could be revoked and withdrawn at any time.
State institutions were annulled given 52 years and new generations were invited to create their own, supported by the wisdom of previous generations.

The worst disease in today's society is loneliness. The greatest satisfaction is recognition, and feeling part of a whole, supported by others. We need to reassess the human community. The rest comes easy.
FOR OUR CHILDREN
Today, we educate our children to do more of the same.

However, the new generations have begun to wake up. They are seeing the world with open eyes and are beginning to question the meaning of the constant growth that has been the engine of our economy for a long time, and whose cost is wars and the destruction of our environment.

Transforming a complex society may seem impossible if it is not done from the roots, starting with our daily work, in the neighborhood, in our environment. The town is the best environment to create a new model of society.

We must learn to do it, know how to express our observations, wishes, proposals and doubts. In the village, and with mutual support between generations, we can learn to participate without getting lost, teaching our children to live their own lives instead of becoming dependent.
